1. Cookies and similar technology
Cookies are small pieces of data a website or service can store in a browser. Similar technologies include local storage, session storage, and security tokens. They can support essential functions, preferences, measurement, or advertising depending on how a site is configured.
2. OGA's current use
The hosting and security platform may use strictly necessary technology or request data to deliver pages, protect the service, balance traffic, or maintain a secure session.
OGA uses Google Consent Mode with advertising and analytics storage denied by default. Before permission, the Google tag does not set analytics or advertising cookies or enable advertising personalization; Google may receive limited cookieless consent and measurement signals. Visitors can separately allow privacy-limited GA4 site analytics and Google Ads donation conversion measurement.
With site analytics allowed, OGA may measure page views, scrolls, outbound clicks, video engagement, file downloads, donation checkout starts, visits to hosted donation providers, and server-verified completed Stripe donations. Site search and automatic form-interaction measurement are disabled. GA4 events do not include names, email addresses, phone numbers, mailing addresses, payment details, donor messages, Ask Open Gates AI questions, or information about children.
With donation conversion measurement allowed, OGA can record a completed Stripe donation only after its server verifies that the returned Checkout Session is paid. The event may include a transaction identifier, amount, and currency for measurement and deduplication. OGA does not use enhanced conversions or advertising personalization. An outbound visit to PayPal, DAF Direct, or a designated Donorbox campaign may be measured separately and is not treated as proof of a completed donation.
The site does not require a public visitor account. Ask Open Gates AI uses temporary interface state to display the current conversation; OGA does not use that state for advertising profiles.
3. Embedded media and external services
OGA embeds YouTube videos using privacy-enhanced URLs. YouTube may process information or store browser data when a visitor plays or interacts with a video. Following a donation or other external link takes the visitor to a separate service, which applies its own cookie and privacy rules.
4. Browser choices
Visitors may allow both optional purposes, choose site analytics and donation conversion measurement separately, or use essential technology only. Declining does not restrict access to the site or donation links. The versioned choice is stored in the browser's local storage so it can be remembered on that device. An older Google-Ads-only choice is not expanded into GA4 consent.
The Privacy choices control in the footer reopens the choice at any time. Most browsers also allow users to review, block, or delete cookies and site data. Blocking strictly necessary technology may prevent parts of a website or an external service from working correctly.
5. Future changes
If OGA later adds personalization or another nonessential use of browser storage, this notice and the consent controls will be updated before that technology is enabled.
