1. What Ask Open Gates AI is
Ask Open Gates AI is a conversational information tool operated by OGA using the OpenAI API. It is designed to answer questions about OGA's public mission, Roadmap, programs, partnerships, contact information, and ways to give or participate.
Visitors may write in their preferred language. The assistant is instructed to answer in that language whenever possible while relying on OGA's approved English-language source material.
2. How an answer is created
- The website identifies the selected topic or program context.
- OGA's server selects relevant excerpts from an approved public knowledge corpus.
- The question, selected excerpts, and response instructions are sent to the OpenAI Responses API.
- The interface returns a concise answer with links to the relevant OGA pages when support is available.
- If the source material is insufficient, the assistant is designed to say so and direct the visitor to OGA by email.
3. Important limitations
AI output can be inaccurate, incomplete, or out of date even when source material is provided. Program dates, eligibility, costs, donation details, legal or tax status, and other important facts should be confirmed on the linked source page or with OGA.
The assistant is not a human representative and cannot approve assistance, enroll a participant, verify a donation, initiate a payment, provide emergency response, or make decisions on behalf of OGA.
4. Not professional or emergency advice
Do not rely on the assistant for medical, mental-health, legal, tax, financial, adoption, immigration, safeguarding, or emergency advice. Contact an appropriate qualified professional or local emergency service for those needs.
5. Privacy and data handling
Do not enter payment-card details, banking credentials, medical records, government identifiers, confidential case information, or sensitive personal information about a child, donor, volunteer, or beneficiary.
OGA sends each API request with storage disabled for Responses API application state. OpenAI states that API data is not used to train its models unless the API customer opts in, while default abuse-monitoring logs may be retained for up to 30 days unless different approved controls apply. OGA creates a pseudonymous safety identifier on its server to support abuse prevention. Raw network identifiers are not included in the identifier sent to OpenAI.
6. Sources and updates
The public AI corpus is limited to documents OGA has marked approved. Draft, private, beneficiary, donor, and internal operational records are excluded. Source pages remain the authoritative public presentation and may be updated before the AI corpus is refreshed.
